The Starke County Election Board will be convening for the first time since last week’s Knox Primary Municipal Election.
Tuesday was the first election Starke County Clerk Vicki Cooley. Few of the races were contested during the primary. Incumbent Mayor Rick Chambers was defeated handily by former Mayor Dennis Estok. Several other City Council seats were contested, largely on the Democratic side.
Each of the candidates winning their primary will now move onto the General Election in November.
A follow-up discussion needs to take place concerning the primary according to the Starke County Election Board’s agenda. Immediately following the vote count, election board member Dan Bridgegroom said he believes things went smoothly.
Today’s Election Board meeting begins at 10:00 a.m. at the Starke County Courthouse.
