Voters who live in the North Judson-San Pierre School District will be asked to consider a tax increase to support the corporation. The measure will be on the November General Election ballot.
Last night the school board approved a contract with Certified Public Accountant Curt Pletcher with Umbaugh and Associates for $6,300 and hired political strategy firm Winston/Terrell for $17,500 to assist with the project. Superintendent Lynn Johnson says both will ensure the corporation follows the necessary procedural steps to get the measure property before voters.
Pletcher will present information about the need for additional funding to bridge a significant budget shortfall during a 7 p.m. public forum tonight at the North Judson-San Pierre High School auditorium. Members of the public are encouraged to attend and learn more about the funding challenges the corporation is facing as a result of declining enrollment and state funding cuts.
