The weather has sidelined efforts to collect enough income surveys from North Judson residents to finalize a grant application.
Town officials are applying for funds to rehabilitate the two water towers. In order to qualify, the town has to meet the income threshold outlined in the grant criteria. Clerk-Treasurer Donna Henry says town utility workers were going door-to-door to pick up surveys that were mailed out but not returned but had to stop and address more pressing matters related to the recent rains. They’ve got about half of the 337 needed to proceed. The surveys were sent out earlier this year by the Kankakee-Iroquois Regional Planning Commission. Any North Judson resident who got a survey in the mail is asked to complete and return it.
Henry says the recent storms also damaged the roof of the veterans memorial gazebo at Norwayne Field. Workers took advantage yesterday’s (Tuesday’s) break in the rain to make repairs prior to this weekend’s Mint Festival.
