The Starke County Health Department held an executive session Monday evening to receive information and interview prospective employees. Following the executive session, a public meeting was held related to the environmentalist position.
During the executive session four potential candidates were interviewed by the board for the position of environmentalist. After some deliberation the board held their public meeting and announced that the candidate Wallace Williams had been selected to serve as the Starke County Health Department Environmentalist.
According to the Starke County Department descriptions, in his new position Williams will promote waste awareness among all residents and businesses. He will provide education, assistance, and opportunities for waste reductions, reuse, and recycling. The goal as Environmentalist is to improve waste management practices, eliminate open dumping and burning, to turn waste into resources and reduce the volume of waste generated and disposed of in Starke County.
