The Third Annual Manufacturers Day Event will be held tomorrow at Knox Middle School. The event’s put on by the Starke County Economic Development Foundation to give students a better understanding of the local manufacturing industry.
Seventh grade students will have the chance to talk with representatives from local manufacturing companies to learn about what career options are available and what training they’d need for the different types of jobs. The SCEDF expects around 340 seventh grade students to take part in this year’s event. For the first time, students from Culver Community Schools will be there, joining those from Oregon-Davis, Knox, and North Judson-San Pierre.
As part of Manufacturers Day, the foundation will be holding a prospectus luncheon to discuss what they’re working on this year. They’ll also be presenting the annual Robert E. Hamilton Award to an individual who’s contributed greatly to economic development in Starke County.
Members of the public are invited to visit the manufacturers’ booths from 12:45 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the auxiliary gym of the Middle School. Visitors should enter through Door 8.
