A few Indiana lawmakers got the chance to watch a missile launch this past Saturday.
U.S. Representatives Jackie Walorski and Pete Viscloskey, as well as U.S. Senator Joe Donnelly, were among those aboard the submarine USS Kentucky to observe a test flight of a Trident Missile. The U.S. Navy launched the missile from the submarine as part of a Demonstration and Shakedown operation in the Pacific Test Range off the coast of Southern California. The U.S. Strategic Command says the test helps them obtain information about the missile’s reliability, accuracy, and performance.
Representative Walorski’s a member of the House Armed Services Committee. She said in a statement that making sure the nation’s strategic forces have the resources and training they need is one of her most important priorities. She also thanked them for their service.
