Officers from the Knox Police Department will patrol the downtown area on foot from midnight until 2 a.m. each Friday and Saturday night, weather permitting.

Mayor Rick Chambers says that step is being taken in response to numerous complaints from jewelry store owners Frank and Tammy Guzman. Their store is next to O’s Tap on Main Street. The Guzmans have reported several problems with unruly patrons urinating on the doors of their store and littering both the sidewalk and alley.

Tammy Guzman told the city council last night cameras have been installed outside the business. That suggestion was offered previously as a tool to help the police and prosecutor’s office identify suspects who may be breaking the law.
