A proclamation marking the 199th anniversary of Indiana’s Statehood and the beginning of the state’s year long bicentennial celebration was read and signed by Board President David Kesvormas at last night’s meeting of the Hamlet Town Board.
The bicentennial flag will be raised in a short ceremony at the Town Hall Friday morning at 11 a.m., joining towns and cities around Indiana.
In other business, the Board adopted it’s 2016 salary ordinance. Elected officials are not scheduled to receive a pay increase, but employees salaries will be reviewed early next year. The 2016 Holiday schedule was also adopted.
The Town Christmas home decorating contest judging will be between 7 and 8 p.m. on Sunday December 20. There are cash prizes.
The annual Town Christmas party is scheduled for Thursday, the 17th, at 6 p.m. in the new Community Center. Santa Claus will be there for pictures. Refreshments will be served.
Street Department Superintendent Fred Rowe reported that the town’s salt supply is adequate for the coming winter months. Davis Township Trustee Robin Lattimer was assured that snow plowing at the fire department and community center will be included in the town’s schedule.
