Indiana State Troopers have arrested four juveniles believed responsible for a rash of criminal mischief incidents on I-94 in LaPorte County.
Troopers responded to 24 complaints of objects being thrown off the County Road 900 overpass just west of the Michigan state line and striking vehicles. The troopers took 17 crash reports in three days. They stress the activity is extremely dangerous, as it can possibly result in death if an object goes through a windshield and hits a vehicle’s occupant.
Troopers were doing extra patrol in the area around 5:45 p.m. Wednesday. They found three bicycles hidden in the weeds along 900 North and immediately apprehended two juveniles. A state police K9 found two other juveniles hiding along the fence line about half a mile away. They were also arrested without incident. All four were taken to the LaPorte County Juvenile Detention Center. Formal charges are pending.
