Suspect Arrested in LaPorte Armed Robbery Incident

MossA bit of investigation has led to the arrest of a LaPorte man in connection with an armed robbery at Marshall’s Custom Meats.

The incident occurred in the 1600 block of I Street in LaPorte on December 13th. Employees at the location allege that a man entered the store to purchase some meat products but dropped change on the floor. When the individual returned back above the counter, he was allegedly displaying a handgun and demanded the contents of the cash register.

A search has been ongoing for the past couple of days. It was announced Friday evening that 19-year-old Kyree Moss of LaPorte was arrested in connection with the incident on Thursday night. He was arrested in Valparaiso after LaPorte Police Detectives alerted authorities in Porter County of Moss’ whereabouts.

Moss and a female subject had “barricaded” themselves inside a home on Garfield Street in Valparaiso.

Moss is now facing a Level 3 felony charge of Robbery. He is being held in the LaPorte County jail on a $25-thousand bond.
