The Hamlet Town Board met last night with a new member, Connie Bailey, who replaced Frank Lonigro Jr. in the November election. David Kesvormas was re-elected Town Board President. Re-appointed were Martin Bedrock, attorney; Frank Lonigro, town marshal; Fred Rowe, street superintendent; Henry Ruiz, Water and Waste Water Operator; Connie Bailey, KIRPC representative; and Brian Earnest, Starke County Development Foundation representative.
The Board scheduled an executive meeting for Saturday at 10 a.m. to discuss personnel matters.
A “Meth Lab Awareness” program, led by a state police officer, has been scheduled at the fire department on Jan. 25th. A 4:30 p.m. session is set for members of the public; a 6 p.m. session for members of the fire department.
Charles Weaver, of the Starke County Economic Development Foundation, told the board of plans for road improvements in the area and construction of a shell building for possible future use by an employer.
Hamlet-Davis Fire Chief Bob Goetz reported on the purchase of a 50-50 Town-Township ownership truck and repairs and testing on other equipment, to which the town contributes on the same basis.
2016 department budgets were reviewed and approved.
