A Knox man was airlifted to a South Bend hospital after being struck by a car last night in front of the BP Station on U.S. 35. Knox Police Chief Harold Smith says the crash happened just after 7:30 p.m.

The victim, 63-year-old Wilgus Terry of Knox, was initially taken via ambulance to IU Health Starke Hospital before being flown to South Bend with what are described as critical injuries. A hospital spokeswoman tells WKVI news he’s in stable condition.

He was struck by a southbound vehicle driven by 44-year-old George Felty of Knox. The crash is still under investigation.

Starke County EMS, the Starke County Sheriff’s Office and Knox Fire Department assisted with the response.
