College Goal Sunday This Weekend

Students planning to attend college this fall will get a bit of extra encouragement this weekend. Financial aid professionals around the state will be working together to make sure all interested students have the information they need to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). It’s all part of an annual event called College Goal Sunday.

The FAFSA needs to be filed by March 10, in order for students to qualify for federal and state grants, scholarships, and student loans. To make the process as easy as possible, free workshops will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. local time at 42 locations around the state. Locally, workshops will be held at Plymouth High School and Purdue North Central in Westville.

Organizers say students should attend the event with a parent or guardian and should bring their 2015 tax returns and W-2 forms, or those from 2014 if last year’s are not available. Students and parents are also encouraged to create a U.S. Department of Education FSA IDs online before going to the event.
