Financial Aid Workshops to be Held Next Weekend for College Goal Sunday

Students planning to attend college next fall will be able to get some free help with some of the paperwork next weekend. As part of College Goal Sunday, financial aid professionals around the state will be hosting workshops on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). It needs to be filed by April 15, in order for students to qualify for federal and state grants, scholarships, and student loans.

Plymouth High School Will No Longer Serve as a College Goal Sunday Site Due to Flooding

Due to the current conditions in Marshall County, Plymouth High School will no longer serve as a College Goal Sunday site on February 25th.

Plymouth Community Schools Marketing Director Judi Lykowski encourages local families to attend this weekend’s event at any of the other locations across the state. She said other nearby locations include Valparaiso, Goshen, Warsaw, Elkhart and South Bend. A plethora of other sites are listed at CollegeGoalSunday.org.

College-bound students looking for financial assistance will need to fill out a FAFSA and unfortunately, many people find the process time consuming or confusing.

However, there’s no need to stress, as free financial aid assistance is just a few weeks away with College Goal Sunday.

College Goal Sunday Event This Weekend

 Those needing assistance filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA, form can get assistance in this weekend’s College Goal Sunday event.

The form is due March 10 to be eligible for federal student aid. The FAFSA form is required for students to be considered for federal and state grants, scholarships and student loans at most post-secondary schools. The FAFSA form can be perceived as time-consuming, but students can get the FAFSA form filed online during Sunday’s event.

College Goal Sunday has helped more than 90,000 Indiana students and families complete the FAFSA properly and on time. According to the Indiana Commission for Higher Education’s Division of Student Financial Aid, more single parents have filed for financial aid proving that the program is reaching high-risk students and families.

College Goal Sunday Offers Free FAFSA Help

Financial aid professionals will make an appearance at the Plymouth High School and 40 other sites throughout the state to volunteer their time in helping college-bound students and their families with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid during College Goal Sunday. The free program will take place on Feb. 24 at 2 p.m. ET.

The program aims to assist Indiana students who are seeking undergraduate admission to a college or technical school this year in filing the FAFSA, which is required for students to be considered for federal and state grants, loans, and scholarships. The FAFSA must be filed by March 10 in order for the student to be eligible for state aid.
