A Koontz Lake man is dead following a snowmobile crash near Wanatah. Indiana Conservation Officers believe 41-year-old Jason Beecher was traveling at a high rate of speed when he crashed into the rear portion of a parked semi-tractor trailer, located on the Kaiser Farms property.
The LaPorte County Coroner’s Office says the incident likely took place several hours before Beecher’s body was found by a Kaiser employee. Investigators say that Beecher was not wearing a helmet or any other safety equipment at the time of the crash. No mechanical problems were found with the snowmobile.
Conservation Officers and the LaPorte County Coroner’s Office continue to investigate.
