One person is dead following a single-vehicle crash this morning in LaPorte County. It happened on U.S. 20 just west of Fail Road shortly after 8 a.m., according to sheriff’s department officials.
Deputies say a passenger vehicle was eastbound on U.S. 20, lost control, left the south side of the road and hit a tree. Weather and speed are believed to be factors. The victim’s name has not been released yet, pending next of kin notification.
U.S. 20 was closed until about 10 a.m. The LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by LaPorte County EMS, the LaPorte County Coroner’s Office and the Kankakee and Springfield Township Fire Departments.
