West Central High School students will have expanded educational opportunities during the upcoming school year thanks to a program approved last week by the school board. Superintendent Don Street says the learning lab/alternative education program has endless possibilities, including allowing students to retake courses in nontraditional classrooms or take courses not currently offered at West Central.
The lab will operate throughout the day in a dedicated classroom with a teacher to oversee their progress and offer instruction as needed. West Central has offered some online lessons for the past 10 years, but this will be done in a more formal, structured setting.
Street adds West Central officials will look into possible grant opportunities for the learning lab/alternative education program.
