West Central School Officials Awaiting Release of School Letter Grades

The Indiana State Board of Education will publicly release the 2017-2018 School Accountability Grades next week. West Central School Superintendent Don Street said that information will allow school officials to complete certain paperwork for teachers. “Once those letter grades are released, then we’re able to complete teacher’s financial contracts for this year,” he says. “All evaluations are based on the school’s letter grades.”

New metal detectors have arrived at the West Central School Corporation. Last week, the school board finalized a policy update when it comes to how they’ll be used, according to Superintendent Don Street. “I think it’s important to note that the handheld metal detectors are designed for individual searches based on reasonable suspicion,” he says.

West Central School Board Renewed Insurance & Reviewed 2018 Budget

The West Central School board held a hearing for their 2018 budget and reviewed insurance quotes for 2017-18 school year during their meeting Thursday night.

Superintendent Dan Street went over various line items and commented that the proposed budget was very similar to the 2017 budget. Board President Jeff Lowry closed the hearing after no questions or comments were presented by the board. Continue reading
