The West Central School Board will entertain public comments on a proposed superintendent contract when they meet this evening. The extension for Superintendent Don Street runs from July 1, 2016 June 30, 2020 and does not include an increase in salary for the 2016-17 school year.
Under the proposal, Street’s annual base salary is $95,500. Benefits include retirement, health and vision insurance, retirement, social security, long-term disability and life insurance. The previous auto allowance for school business of .40 per mile is not included in the new agreement. The total listed contract provision is $134,253.11.
It calls for 260 working days per school year, inclusive of 20 paid vacation days and recognized holidays in accordance with state law.
The superintendent will be evaluated by the school board annually and rated using the same categories applied to teachers and other administrators. The board reviews the superintendent’s salary and benefits each June and may approve changes in base salary, contributions or allowances at that time. The board also determines what amount, if any, should be awarded under the performance based pay provisions of the contract.
Tonight’s West Central School Board meeting will take place at 7:30 p.m. EDT in the central office meeting room in Francesville.
