Road paving season is under way in Starke County. Highway Superintendent Rik Ritzler says crews wedged a total of five miles of asphalt through the county in June. Plans call for an additional five miles of paving in July. Ritzler adds they will continue doing work throughout the summer as long as the weather is good and funding holds out.
The Starke County Highway Department is also continuing its mowing, trimming and brush cutting operations, with an emphasis on maintaining visibility at intersections. Ritzler encourages anyone who encounters a problem spot to contact the Starke County Highway Department at 574- 772-3011.
