The City of Knox may use unrestricted funds from the state to improve access to a local apartment complex. Mayor Dennis Estok told the council last week he would like to add a curb cut from Main Street to access the Oak Valley Apartments near the VFW. Right now the only entrance to and exit from the complex is onto South Heaton Street. He says the management has agreed to add an access road on their property if the city takes care of the road cut.
Council members generally agreed the second entrance and exit would improve safety for the residents. No formal action was taken on the plan, as the city still needs to get estimates on the cost of the work. No timeline was offered for the completion, either.
