Starke County will soon be able to proceed with the demolition of a dilapidated building. The commissioners Monday evening agreed to accept the transfer of title to the former Bank of San Pierre at the northwest corner of Broadway and Eliza Streets. It has been vacant for several years, and the county has installed barriers around the structure due to crumbling brick.
Building Inspector Terry Stephenson recently made contact with the owners, who agreed to give the building to the county. He advised the electricity to the site will need to be disconnected before anything can be done with the structure. No demolition timeline was offered.
