A LaPorte County Commissioner has been arrested after allegedly leaving the scene of a property damage crash.
Indiana State Police say it happened last Wednesday when a 2011 Ford pickup truck was allegedly seen entering a parking lot near the LaPorte County Government Center. Investigators believe the pickup truck sideswiped the rear bumper of a 2002 Ford Explorer that was parked there. The driver, identified as 71-year-old David Decker of Union Mills, allegedly left the scene without leaving his name, address, registration, or other information.
A warrant was issued for Decker for leaving the scene of a property damage crash, a Class B Misdemeanor. State police say Decker turned himself in to the LaPorte County Jail, where he was processed and released.
The LaPorte County Sheriff’s Department has turned the investigation over to the Indiana State Police.
