The Town of Hamlet looks to recognize some of its history, with the installation of a street sign downtown. The sign commemorating the route of the Yellowstone Trail was donated to the town by Juanita Ketcham, one of the organizers of the town’s annual Yellowstone Trail Festival.
On Wednesday, the Hamlet Town Council decided to install the sign near the intersection of Starke and Pearl streets. It will be placed on one of the decorative streetlights recently installed as part of Hamlet’s downtown beautification efforts.
Additionally, the town council decided to expand the roll-out of its safe-driving signs. The signs, which say “We love our children, please drive carefully” haven’t been installed yet, but council president Dave Kesvormas recommended the town buy another four. “It’s kind of like our own little trademark here,” he said.
Plans call for them to be placed at all the town entrances, as well as in the Town Park and County Fairgrounds area.
