The West Central School Corporation is getting a couple new buses. Superintendent Don Street says the school board approved the purchases last week. “We’re looking at getting a 78-passenger school bus and then an activity bus, as well,” he says.
The larger, IC/Collins bus will cost nearly $86,000, while the Starcraft minibus is just over $50,000. However, the school corporation will receive trade-in allowances totaling $12,000, for two of its buses.
Also during last week’s meeting, the West Central School Board heard a presentation about the school corporation’s Certified Nursing Assistant program from teacher Jennifer Johns. “She just does an outstanding job,” Street says. “Very few school corporations have a CNA program, so we have kids enrolled in that and will be able to get their certification.”
Street says board members expressed their appreciation for Johns’ work with students in the health careers field.
