Knox Mayor Dennis Estok is looking for volunteers to help plan the city’s special events for 2017.
Anyone interested in helping with the Car and Bike Show/Cruise Night, July 4th Family Fun Day and Peppermint Parade is invited to an informal meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 1. It will take place at 6 p.m. at the Nancy J. Dembowski Community Center.
Estok notes anyone who doesn’t have time to be on a committee is still welcome to come and share ideas.
Last year city officials successfully returned the fireworks to Wythogan Park, with a day full of activities leading up to the extravaganza. They also revived the long-dormant Peppermint Parade down Main Street and into the park, after which Santa Claus visited with children in his house while everyone enjoyed refreshments.
