The Knox Community School Corporation will once again observe a balanced calendar for the upcoming school year. Superintendent A.J. Gappa says classes for students will start Thursday, Aug. 3, 2017 and end May 25, 2018.
Students will have a week of fall break in October and two weeks off in the spring. Graduation for the class of 2018 is scheduled June 1.
Gappa says the school board has adopted e-learning days to make up for any instructional time lost, so there are no contingency days built into next year’s calendar. Should any be necessary they will be added on at the end of the school year.
Knox is the host school for several vocational programs, including the three SCILL Center offerings, graphic arts and the CNA program. Gappa says any students from other corporations who are enrolled in those courses will need to follow the Knox calendar in terms of attendance. Earlier this week the Oregon-Davis School Board opted to return to a traditional school calendar with a later start, no fall break and a shorter spring vacation.
