Pulaski and Fulton Counties Propose EMS Mutual Aid

Pulaski County EMS is considering a mutual aid agreement with a neighboring county. Director Nikki Lowry says the goal of the arrangement with Lutheran Ambulance Service in Fulton County is to ensure adequate coverage by sharing resources.

“If we should happen to get busy, they would come in to our county and assist us,” she told the commissioners. “We will go into Fulton County if they get swamped, but I put perimeters in regards to how far into Fulton County we’ll go.”

Lowry says at least one paramedic truck will remain in Pulaski County at all times. Right now the county has two ambulances in operation. Lowry told the commissioners last week she is working on staffing a third one.

Each ambulance service will follow its own guidelines, and the service that transports the patient will charge for doing so.

The commissioners did not act on the proposal last week. County attorney Kevin Tankersley has reviewed it and found everything to be in order.
