Local children have the chance to learn about nature during Earthworks’ summer program. Earthworks is an environmental learning center run by the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ as part of The Center at Donaldson.

The summer program gives children a chance to interact directly with nature, through nature walks and gardening, but also through art and music experiences. Earthworks’ summer program takes place over six weeks in June and July. Registration begins in April and is open to kids ages six through 10.

Now Earthworks is getting some new equipment, thanks to a grant from Arrowhead Country Resource Conservation and Development. Last week, Earthworks was awarded nearly $2,500 to purchase trail cameras and binoculars to keep an eye on animals around the Donaldson campus. The cameras may be used to monitor seasonal animal movement and population numbers, and also keep track of the male to female ratio of the local deer population.
