Lake Effect Snow Slams Kankakee Valley

Old Man Winter isn’t done with us yet. A significant amount of lake effect snow fell overnight in the Kankakee Valley. Allow plenty of extra time to reach your destination, as roads are slippery and snow covered this morning.

A lake effect snow advisory is in effect for Starke and  Pulaski Counties through mid-morning. Moderate to heavy showers are expected to continue, with as much as an inch per hour possible early. An additional 2 to 4 inches of snowfall is possible, which will bring storm total accumulations to between 4 and 7 inches. The National Weather Service advises accumulations can vary greatly over relatively short distances due to the nature of lake effect snow fall.

Several area school corporations are operating on delays this morning, and Oregon-Davis Schools are closed. Visit our Closings and Delays Page for the very latest.
