Pulaski County Commissioners Approve County Home Sale

Pleasant View Rest Home

The final hurdle has been cleared in the sale of the former Pleasant View Rest Home in Pulaski County. The commissioners on Monday approved an ordinance authorizing the sale. It’s already been approved by the council.

Local realtor Dewain Davis will handle the sale of the former county home and 4.514 acres. The barn, Pulaski County REACT building and property on which inmates at the Pulaski County Jail plant their garden will not be sold.

County officials would prefer the property be auctioned but agreed it can be sold if necessary. The commissioners also expressed a desire to cap advertising costs. County attorney Kevin Tankersley will work those details out in the contract for the sale with Davis.

The county home closed two years ago after the Pulaski County Council cut funding for its operation from the 2015 budget. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and was previously listed for sale in historical publications.
