The Knox City Council will get more information tonight about how to pay for improvements to the Nancy J. Dembowski Community Center. The HVAC system and roof both need to be replaced. So does the carpeting.
The city is looking to issue bonds to cover the repair costs, which are estimated at close to $250,000. A representative from accounting firm Umbaugh and Associates will share more information about financing options with the city council during their 7 p.m. meeting.
In other business, council members will consider a recommendation from the Knox Park Board to restrict the hours of operation at all of the Knox City Parks. The current ordinance only applies to Wythogan Park. It closes daily at 10:30 p.m. and reopens at 8:30 a.m.
Starke County Economic Development Foundation Executive Director Charlie Weaver is also scheduled to make a presentation to the council this evening.
