The Knox Water Department recently completed a couple of improvement projects on Prettyman Street. A new water line is in place, and as a result water pressure to homes and businesses has improved significantly.
Superintendent Todd Gardner told the board of works Wednesday two hydrants were also installed recently. One is new, and the other one was repurposed by the city.
Gardner also reported a spike in year-to-date bulk water sales, thanks to the NIPSCO transmission line installation near Bass Lake. Par Electric has purchased quite a bit of water from the city to accommodate drilling. Gardner says in a typical year the city has $1,500 in bulk water receipts by this time. This year they’ve sold more than $4,500 worth. He expects that number to level off once the local portion of the project is finished.
