Mint Festival Committee Seeks Father/Grandfather of the Year Nominees

Youngsters still have a few days to submit their Father and Grandfather of the Year essays for the North Judson Mint Festival. Entry forms and essays need to be turned in by Wednesday, May 31.

A panel of out-of-town judges will choose the winners. The contest is open to students who live in Starke County or who attend school at North Judson-San Pierre, Knox or Oregon-Davis. Their father or grandfather must also meet those residency requirements.

All essays must be handwritten by the child who submits it. The judges will take the youngster’s age into consideration. Cash prizes and plaques will be awarded during the Mint Festival opening ceremony on Friday, June 16 at 5 p.m. at Norwayne Field.

The winning father or grandfather and child who nominates him also be in the Mint Festival Parade on Father’s Day.
