Society of Innovators Announces Call for Nominations

The Society of Innovators of Northwest Indiana, Ivy Tech Community College is looking for trailblazers to join its ranks.

The call for nominations from the seven-county region is open through July 5th. The Society is seeking to recognize the most innovative individuals and teams in Starke, Pulaski, LaPorte, Porter, Lake, Newton and Jasper Counties.

They define innovation is thinking creatively and developing ideas that provide solutions, add value and are implemented as new or different products, services and social initiatives. Innovations transform people’s lives and strengthen the economy in our region, state, nation and world.

The Society has inducted more than 300 individuals since 2005 and has recognized more than 1,685 individuals and teams. Past honorees include Don Galbreath and the late Ralph Braun of Winamac, who founded BraunAbility. The North Judson-based Kemin-Lambert Spearmint Team won the Chanute Prize for Innovation in 2013.

Nominations close on July 5, 2017 at 5 p.m. The 13th Annual Induction will be in the Venue hosted by Horseshoe Casino on Oct. 26, from 5 until 9 p.m. Announced will be the new individual and team Members, Fellows, who are the recipients of the innovation awards and the top team awards consisting of the da Vinci Award and the Chanute Prize.
