The City of Knox may be able to tear down an additional house as part of its blight elimination effort. Over the past year or so, the city’s torn down 10 uninhabitable homes, with funding from the Indiana Housing & Community Development Authority.
Mayor Dennis Estok says there’s still nearly $30,000 left over from that grant. He told the city council Tuesday that extra money can be used to tear down another house, and the city has just taken possession of one for that purpose.
Meanwhile, a separate grant to tear down another two houses is also moving ahead. Estok said Tuesday those houses have been been accepted into the state’s program, and the necessary waivers have been received. Now, he says they’re preparing to solicit demolition bids.
