A longtime law enforcement officer will soon be in charge of code enforcement for the City of Knox. Kenny Pfost has been appointed as the city’s director of building and code compliance by Mayor Dennis Estok. Pfost will also serve as planning administrator, following action by the Knox Plan Commission Tuesday.
Plan Commission President Jeff Berg said Pfost brings lots of experience to the job. “Kenny Pfost comes with impeccable credentials, first, serving as Knox fire chief since 2009,” Berg said. “Ken has performed law enforcement duties for 15 years, graduating from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in 2005. While at the Starke County Sheriff’s Department, he was chief deputy for two years, detective for five years, and chief detective for another three years.” Berg added that Pfost also has a background in the construction and electrical arts trades.
Pfost will begin his new duties Monday. He’ll also continue as the part-time fire chief.
Pfost’s appointment as planning administrator and director of building and code compliance follows the resignation of Kevin Kotras from those positions last month. His resignation was officially accepted by the plan commission Tuesday.
Kotras also served as the plan commission’s secretary. That role will be assumed by member Steve Dodge.
