A three-year-old boy is critically injured, after police say he was run over by a tractor in LaPorte County. At around 1:45 Wednesday afternoon, emergency responders were called to a farm on County Road 400 South, east of U.S. 35.
According to the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office, the boy was stabilized and then taken by ambulance to LaPorte Hospital. Meanwhile, several sheriff’s deputies and LaPorte City Police worked to clear the route of traffic. Once the ambulance got to the hospital, the boy was immediately put on a helicopter and taken to Comer Children’s Hospital in Chicago.
The LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office says no foul play is suspected, but detectives continue to investigate. The LaPorte County Emergency Medical Service and Pleasant Township Fire Department also responded.
The boy’s name has not yet been released. Police say they’ll provide more information once family members have all been notified.
