Winamac Man Dies, Following Crash with Kouts Police Car

A Winamac man is dead after colliding with a Kouts police car Sunday night. The Northwest Indiana Times says Robert Lindsey, 45, was driving northbound on Baums Bridge Road around 9:15 p.m.

Investigators believe that when he reached State Road 8, he failed to yield to a police car that was heading eastbound. The police car then struck the Buick Lindsey was driving on its driver’s side, according to the Porter County Sheriff’s Office.

A four-year-old girl who was also in the Buick was ejected in the crash and suffered serious injuries. The Times says she was airlifted to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne. Meanwhile, Lindsey was taken to Porter Regional Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The driver of the police car, Kouts police officer Brock Moore, 24, suffered head lacerations and was taken to Porter Regional Hospital. Moore was on duty at the time of the accident, according to The Times.

The Porter County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate.
