The Knox Community School Corporation has a new school superintendent.
Dr. William Reichhart, who most recently was the Superintendent of Schools at Manchester Community Schools, was named the new superintendent during last night’s Knox Community School Board meeting.
He had been the superintendent at Manchester Community Schools for the past seven years. In the past, he was also a teacher and assistant basketball coach.
Reichhart is a 1976 graduate of Ft. Wayne Harding High School and began his teaching career in Dearborn, Michigan. He received his Doctorate Degree from Indiana State University and his Masters Degree from IU-PU Ft Wayne after doing his initial degree work at Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska.
He and wife Penny have four children and nine grandchildren. The pair currently reside in Roanoke, Indiana. Reichhart said his hobbies include watching basketball and visiting the couple’s lake cottage. The new administrator mentioned that he has, in the past, been a basketball referee, and said he probably will continue with a few games this year.
The Knox Community School Corporation has been directed by Interim Superintendent Jim Dermody since Apr. 26, 2017. The board members complimented Dermody on his leadership through the transition. His last day will be July 31, 2017, with the new superintendent taking over Aug. 1, 2017.
Board President Gary Dulin said Mr. Reichhart was selected from 20 applicants. He further stated that Reichhart’s passion for education and students impressed the board.
A full house of teachers and administrators were on hand to welcome the new superintendent and his wife. Refreshments were served after the meeting was adjourned.
