The La Porte City Police Department is investigating the distribution of counterfeit $100 bills at local businesses on Thursday.
The first incident happened at Marco’s Pizza where a woman reportedly paid for her order with a $100 bill. A press release notes that after further examination, the employee thought that the bill might be fake. La Porte Police confirmed that the bill was indeed counterfeit.
Police say the woman and the man she was traveling with had also stopped at the Family Video business next door where they paid for their movie rentals with a counterfeit $100 bill.
Both bills shared the same serial number, according to police.
La Porte police are looking for the suspects. The woman is African American who is 5’2” tall and has a chipped front tooth. The male suspect is also African American who is tall and has dreadlock-style hair. They were last seen in a blue Buick passenger vehicle.
