Winamac Council and Park Board to Discuss Agreement for Budgeting Park Manager’s Salary

The Winamac Town Council is taking steps to formalize how the town’s park manager gets paid. While Park Manager Dave DeLorenzo’s salary is part of the park board’s budget, he’s still technically paid by the town council, according to Town Attorney Justin Schramm.

He told council members last week that’s led to some questions about moving money between budgets, and the State Board of Accounts hasn’t been able to clarify the issue. To solve the problem, Schramm proposed that the town council enter into an intra-local government agreement with the park board. It would take effect January 1, 2018 and remain in effect for a four-year period.

Council members plan to discuss the agreement with the park board during a joint work session in the coming weeks. In the meantime, council members passed a resolution authorizing Council President Tommy Murray to sign the agreement on behalf of the town.
