The City of Knox has wrapped up its Movies in the Park series for the summer. “Basically, once the kids go back to school, it’s just too hard,” Mayor Dennis Estok told the city council Tuesday. “We tried the one Saturday night, and it didn’t work out very well, so we decided that we’re, basically, going to be done.”
However, the mayor said he is looking into other entertainment options. “We’re working on doing another concert in the park,” he said. “We want to have one more for the end of the summer. We’re trying different things to incorporate with that, though, instead of just music.” Knox officials are also looking into the possibility of having an indoor movie screening in the winter.
Meanwhile, the Starke County Community Action Network plans to continue North Judson’s movies in the park series into September. They’re also expanding the program to Hamlet next month.
