Knox Police Department Turns to Crowdfunding for Taser Upgrades

The Knox Police Department is looking to buy new tasers, and they’re asking for the public’s help in paying for them. A GoFundMe page has been launched, with the goal of raising $6,000.

Police Chief Harold Smith says the department’s current tasers are over 14 years old and are no longer reparable. But he says budget cuts mean the department does not have the money to replace them.

According to the GoFundMe page, a personal injury law firm in South Bend has offered to match the donations up to a certain amount. So far, more than $1,000 has been raised.
