Oregon-Davis School Board Approves Teacher Appreciation Grant Policy, Discusses 2018 Budget

The Oregon-Davis School Board has officially decided how Teacher Appreciation Grants will be distributed. State law now requires schools to have a formal policy in place, specifying how the grants will be split up among effective- and highly-effective-rated teachers.

Superintendent Dr. Don Harman says stipends given to highly-effective teachers will be 25-percent higher than those given to teachers with just an “effective” rating.

Also during Monday’s meeting, the school board approved several new hires to fill various vacancies as the new school year begins.

Board members also authorized the corporation to advertise its 2018 budget proposal. Harman says no major changes are expected. A public hearing on the budget will take place on Monday, September 18 at 6:30 p.m., during the board’s next regular meeting. Budget adoption is scheduled for October.
