West Central Schools to See Reduction in Title I Grant

The West Central School Corporation is seeing a $15,000 reduction in its Title I grant. The money benefits Title I programs and events like “Muffins with Mom,” “Donuts with Dad,” and “Family Literacy Night.” It also helps pay the elementary guidance counselor. An update was given during Thursday’s school board meeting.

In other business, Superintendent Don Street announced that schools are now allowed, with training and proper paperwork, to carry the overdose reversal drug Narcan. West Central Athletic Director, Wes Allen, announced that the corporation has an athletic website: www.westcentralathletics.com. Also during Thursday’s meeting, the school board announced the corporation had one resignation, two transfers, and hired eight in the last month. One of the hirings was as part of the Cooperative School Services.

Elementary school “Meet the Teacher Night” is set for next Tuesday from 6 to 7 p.m, before school starts for all students next Wednesday.
