Hamlet Council Approves Police Vehicle Purchase

The Hamlet Police Department is getting a new utility vehicle, but it’s not expected to hit the road until 2018.

The town council Wednesday approved the purchase of a 2018 Ford Police Interceptor Explorer Utility from Best Ford in Knox. “The order wouldn’t be placed until October,” explained Town Marshal Clint Norem. “The new vehicle would not be here until after the first of the year anyway. So the invoicing would be after the first of the year, which was discussed, maybe waiting to do, anyway.”

The cost for the new vehicle is $29,554, before trade-in. That figure does not include the installation of lights and other equipment. Norem pointed out that the 2018 model was only a few hundred dollars more than the 2017.
