Hamlet Council Finalizes Sale of Unneeded Fire Truck

The Town of Hamlet stands to make over $40,000 by selling an old fire truck. The Fenton, Louisiana Fire Department has actually agreed to buy the truck for $45,000, while Hamlet will cover the $4,500 listing fee. The town council finalized the sale Wednesday, by authorizing Council President Dave Kesvormas to sign over the title.

Council member Brian Earnest was pleased with the result. “I’m shocked we’re getting the full $45,000 for it,” he said. “That’s what they asked for it. They didn’t even come down on the price. We thought we were going to have to sell it to a collector of fire trucks, just with it being so old.”

A member of the Fenton Fire Department is expected to come pick up the truck in the next couple weeks.
