Pulaski County May Join with White County to Offer Household Hazardous Waste Days

Pulaski County officials are considering ways to continue offering Household Hazardous Waste Days. Last month, Recycling & Transfer Station Manager Brad Bonnell said he was thinking about discontinuing the annual event. That was due to the fact that the Northwest Indiana Solid Waste District will no longer offer extra tire pickup as part its Hazardous Waste Days.

But this week, Bonnell told the county commissioners he’s looking into other options. “It’s possible that we might be joining with White County and having two a year, rather than one,” he said. “They’re still not going to accept tires, but it does get it away from the confusion of the transfer station and recycling all in one and accepting tires that particular day.”

However, the Northwest Indiana Solid Waste District will continue to cover the cost of removing two semi loads of tires a year.
