Two Major Road Projects Planned by Pulaski County Highway Department

The Pulaski County Highway Department will undertake two major road projects with the funding received through INDOT’s Community Crossings grant. Last week, it was announced that Pulaski County was among the many local communities who were awarded funds through the grant. Of the surrounding counties, Pulaski received the most funding, with more than $878,000 awarded.

Specific details about which roads will be receiving renovations are not available to the public yet. Pulaski County Highway Department Superintendent Terry Ruff stated that since the money was received so late in the fall, work will not begin until next spring, so the department is waiting to release information about the roadwork projects.

In the meanwhile, Ruff said that contractors will be mixing hot mix to use in the projects. Hot mix is used for highways and Ruff said they will be utilizing it to fill aging arteries on the county’s roads. He said approximately two and a half inches is added to the top of existing roads to improve their condition.
